About our UK English school

LocalVisa English Courses is an adult English language school based in London, teaching learners across the United Kingdom online and in person. This page explains who runs the school, how teaching is organised, and what quality checks apply.

Who we are and who we teach

The school was built around adults in the UK: people settling here, professionals whose English lags behind their expertise, and learners preparing for university or a visa route. Many of our students are in full-time work or study. Some have not sat in a classroom for twenty years.

That shapes everything. Evening and Saturday classes exist because of it. Short, structured homework exists because of it. We do not teach children, and we do not run summer camps for teenagers. If you are returning to study after a long break, you will not be the only person in the room doing so.

How our teaching is organised

Each class has one lead teacher for the term, so you are not handed between substitutes. Group sizes are capped so every learner speaks in each session. Lessons follow a term plan with clear objectives, and progress is reviewed at set points rather than only at the end.

Where a learner's needs diverge from the group, we say so and suggest a change of level or a block of one-to-one sessions. Pretending a bad fit will fix itself wastes your money and our time.

One teacher per term

Same face every week

A lead teacher takes the group for the whole term. They know what you missed, what you handle well, and where you are stuck — no restarting from zero with a new person.

Capped group sizes

Speaking time for everybody

Groups are capped so that each learner takes part in every session. If a class would stop you speaking, it is too large for what you are paying for.

Term plan and reviews

Progress checked mid-term

Every term carries written objectives, and progress is reviewed at set points rather than only at the end, so a change of level or format can happen while it still helps.

Accreditation and quality checks

We describe our provision accurately and do not invent credentials. Where accreditation or external quality assurance applies to a course, we state exactly what it covers and who issued it, in writing, before you enrol. If a course carries no external accreditation, we say that too.

Claims about teaching quality should be checkable. Ask us for specifics on any course before registering, and we will answer in detail rather than in slogans.

Ask about accreditation

Our teachers

Our teachers are qualified English language professionals working in the UK. They teach to the CEFR framework and are used to mixed adult groups where one learner is a nurse and the next is a postgraduate student. All of them work with British English as the teaching standard while preparing learners for the range of accents they will meet.

You can ask to meet your teacher before the term starts. For most learners, that conversation resolves more questions than any brochure paragraph. If you want to talk about your level, your timetable, or what a term realistically covers, we will arrange it.

Teaching languages and frameworks

  • CEFR-referenced levels from beginner to advanced
  • British English as the teaching standard
  • ESOL, General, Business, Conversation and IELTS preparation
  • Group classes and one-to-one tutoring blocks

What we do not claim

We do not promise band scores, job offers, visa outcomes or admission to any institution. We do not publish learner statistics we cannot substantiate. We do not present testimonials we have not received in the exact words used.

What we do offer is clear: an assessment of where you are, an honest view of what a given timeframe can achieve, and teaching that matches the course you paid for.

Questions before you register

Most people want to know three things: what level they are, what the course costs, and whether the timetable works. Send the form with those questions and we will answer all three. There is no charge and no obligation created by asking.

If something in our materials is unclear, tell us. Course descriptions get updated when learners point out gaps, and that feedback is the simplest quality check we have.

Which level will I be placed in?

Your starting level is decided by an assessment before you enrol, not by a self-selected number. It looks at speaking, listening, reading and writing against the CEFR framework, and it is the same assessment whether you join a group or take one-to-one sessions.

How do I find out what a course costs?

Course fees are quoted in writing before you commit to anything. Ask us for the current fee for the course and format you are considering, and we will send it with the timetable and term dates attached so you can compare what fits your week.

Which course carries accreditation?

Where accreditation or external quality assurance applies to a course, we state what it covers and who issued it, in writing, before you enrol. Where it does not apply, we say that plainly. Ask about any specific course and we will put it in the reply.

Can I switch level or format mid-term?

Yes, when a mid-term review shows the group or the pace is wrong for you. We will suggest a change of level or a block of one-to-one sessions rather than let a bad fit run on. It is cheaper for everyone to fix it while the term is still useful.

Do you teach children or run summer camps?

No. LocalVisa English Courses works with adults: people settling in the UK, professionals, and learners preparing for university or a visa route. That is why evening and Saturday classes, and short structured homework, are part of how we run the school.
