Course information policy · LocalVisa English Courses, London

How we keep course information useful

Course pages go stale quietly. This page explains how we draft, review and correct what we publish about our courses — and what to do when something looks out of date.

What this policy covers

The pages this policy governs, and the ones it does not

This policy applies to every course description, level guide, timetable, format explanation and fee page we publish on localvisa.digital. It explains how that content is written, who reviews it, how often it is checked, and how corrections are handled after a page goes live.

It does not cover what other providers publish about their own courses. It also does not cover external exam regulations — those are set by the exam boards, not by us. Where a course prepares you for an exam, our pages describe only the preparation we deliver in class.

In scope

  • Course descriptions and level guidance
  • Timetables, start dates and term lengths
  • Format explanations and what each format includes
  • Fees, materials and entry requirements

Out of scope

  • Other providers’ course listings
  • External exam board regulations and results
  • Third-party study resources we link to

Written by the people who teach the class

Each course description is drafted by the teaching team, not by a marketing writer working from a summary. The level guidance, the lesson content and the expected study hours describe what is actually taught in the room.

Where a course has an entrance level, the description states it plainly — so a B1 learner can tell whether a class is a stretch or a repeat. We avoid language we cannot check. If a course prepares you for an exam, we say what that preparation covers and, just as usefully, what it does not.

  1. Draft The tutor teaching the class writes the level, content and study-hours guidance.
  2. Check The teaching lead reads it against the syllabus before it reaches a published page.
  3. Publish Only after sign-off does the description go live with a confirmed start date.

Descriptions are drafted beside the syllabus they describe, which is why the level guidance on our pages tends to match the class you actually walk into.

Review cycle and sign-off

When each page gets checked, and who signs it off

Course pages are reviewed at the start of each term, before new dates are published, and again whenever a material change happens mid-term. If a course is paused or withdrawn, its page is updated or taken down rather than left online with an old start date.

Start of term

Full read of level guidance, format and entry requirements across every published course.

Teaching lead

Before new dates publish

Timetable accuracy, confirmed versus provisional dates, and the room or format for each group.

Teaching lead

Mid-term change

Any change to a tutor, a start date, a format or a fee is reviewed and republished the same week.

Teaching lead

Paused or withdrawn course

The page is rewritten or removed so nobody registers against a course that is not running.

Dates and level guides are the first thing we check

Timetables and start dates are the most volatile part of any course listing. We publish confirmed dates only, and where a date is still provisional we label it provisional on the page so you can plan around the honest version.

Level guides are checked against the current CEFR-aligned syllabus, so what we say a level A2 or B2 class covers matches what is taught in those rooms. If you are relying on a specific date before making travel or work arrangements, confirm it with us first.

Checked on every timetable page

  • Confirmed dates are separated from provisional ones in plain wording.
  • Level guidance is matched to the CEFR band actually taught in the group.
  • Session times and total contact hours are shown for each format.
  • Group size is stated for small group classes and one-to-one tutoring.

Fee pages state the format, the hours, the term length and what the materials cover — so you can compare two courses on the same four lines.

What a published fee figure is expected to say

Fee information on this site states the study format, the number of contact hours, the length of the term and what materials are included. We do not publish a figure that applies only to a promotional intake without labelling it as promotional on the same page.

The exact fee for your enrolment is confirmed in writing before anything is charged. That written confirmation is where you check the format, the dates and the amount side by side.

Format
Classroom, online or one-to-one, named on the fee page itself.
Contact hours
The teaching hours per week and across the term, stated together.
Term length
How many weeks the course runs, with the start and end dates listed.
Materials
Which coursebooks, handouts or practice papers are included in the fee.

Tell us and we will correct the page

If a published detail is wrong, tell us by phone or email and we will correct the page. Where an error affected an enrolment decision, we discuss the options with you directly, including a change of course or a refund where that is the right outcome.

Corrections are logged so the same mistake is less likely to repeat in the next review cycle. The log is an internal record of what changed and when — it is not published.

  1. First

You send us the page and the detail you think is wrong, by phone or by email to info@localvisa.digital.

  2. Checked

The teaching lead checks the report against the current syllabus, timetable and fee record.

  3. Corrected

The page is amended, and the correction is noted so the next review can check the same area first.

  4. If it affected you

We call you back to talk through the options rather than leave you to re-read the page.

You can reach the team on +44 20 7937 6510 between Monday and Friday, 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM, or on Saturday between 10:00 AM and 2:00 PM.

What you can ask for before you register

Before registering, you can ask for the current syllabus, the confirmed start date, the teacher assigned and the fee in writing. We answer those requests as standard, not as a favour. If an answer is unclear, ask again and we will put it plainly.

Ask for

  • The current syllabus for the level you are joining.
  • The confirmed start date, in writing, on the day you enquire.
  • The teacher assigned to the group, and who covers if they are away.
  • The fee confirmed in writing before anything is charged.

Watch for

  • A start date marked provisional and treated as confirmed.
  • A level described in adjectives rather than a CEFR band.
  • A fee that lists one number without hours or term length beside it.
  • Anything vague enough that you would want it in writing first.

Contact the teaching team directly

The contact page lists the phone number, email address and postal address for these requests, along with the hours the office is staffed.

Where our information stops

Self-study material can carry you between lessons. We link to it where it is genuinely useful, but our course information policy governs only what we publish ourselves.

  • External

Free British Council materials covering grammar, listening and reading for adult learners — useful between lessons and free to use.

  • Not controlled

Those resources are maintained by their publishers. Their content can change without notice, and we cannot correct a page we do not run.

  • Governed here

Our course descriptions, level guides, timetables and fee pages — the pages this policy explains and the ones we correct if something is wrong.

Register on the page that also collects your details

Registration takes your first name, surname, email and phone number, and the team replies with the confirmed start date, the teacher assigned and the fee in writing. There is no form on this page — the register and contact pages are where your details are taken.

If you only want to ask a question first, use the contact page. Both routes reach the same teaching team, and neither commits you to a course.
